“Get immersed in the euphoria of literary arts in the holy land of Varanasi with eminent wordsmiths.”
By Vikash Saxena, The Literary Mirror
In a quaint little room filled with rustic yet fulfilling memories, an odd bunch of 30 people convene routinely for one sole purpose, to get lost in the literary arts they so ardently love and admire, thereby constituting the The Lit Club, IIT BHU; Varanasi. Set in the aptly named common room of Visvesvaraya-“The Lit Lounge“, these literates immerse themselves in the pursuit of art which speaks to them. With just one unwavering and infallible principle, what they produce must have been conceived through rhetoric and wit. Debate, Poetry, Prose, Standup, Ashubhashan, Tarksangat, Kavyanjali, Tukbandi and a plethora of other events have let us all enthralled. No performance goes unscrutinized, and the members from the club take turns alternating between the role of participants and judges.
All in preparation for the final day of reckoning, when the club organizes its annual literary fest dazzling the audience and the performers alike. It goes by the name of ‘Varanasi Wordfest’ and is rife with literary acumen that trickles and seeps into the minds of literary enthusiasts, mesmerizing and astounding them simultaneously. Prominent celebrities like Anoop Soni, Adil Hussain, Divya Prakash Dubey etc. will throng the event and contribute to an inspiring and informative speakers list with book releases and Shayari nights running parallel.
The events available for contention are the same as those being practiced regularly by the club members, but with fierce competition from outside, the battle that unfolds is a sight to see. This two-day event jam-packed with all sorts of activities has been a bright spot for the institute in general, thereby upholding the reputation of an IIT which everyone so eagerly enjoys. We want to invite all our readers to rejoice and immerse in the celebration and be a part of the club by participating in our fest or sending in your entries for our routine online writing competition.
